Following on from work that focuses on women from local history, this new work tends towards a more personal history. I have layered imagery of local plants with photographs of urban decay from another very different place – a place where I spent time during early childhood and teenage years. This place is not ‘my’ country or ‘my’ culture, yet it is part of my understanding of the world. As well as the plants, I have also utilised more personal drawings – layering the abstract of early memory and unknowns with more adult experiences.
