Lady and pets, 2022
I enjoy working with bright colours in felt, wool and cotton fabrics to construct ‘pictures’ of things that interest me. I often take an original work and change or embellish it to suit my taste. For example, in my version of a 1790 American Folk Art portrait of Molly Forbes, ‘Lady and Pets’, I changed her pets and flowers but kept her face.
Resurrection, 2021
‘Resurrection’ is adapted from an 11th century Czech manuscript, but I left out the men, added the birds and changed the colours of the coffins.
Pinboard 1, 2023
I am a collector of objects and images, and these often appear in my art. Pinboard 1 is inspired by pictures and photos I collected on my sewing room pinboard over 2023.
My jugs, 2021
My jugs is a portrait in felt of some of the many jugs I have in my collection.
Black hole, 2024
Sometimes, my work reflects what is happening in the world in ways I don’t anticipate. Black Hole started as a work focused on birds but evolved into a response to the many wars currently raging.
