Catherine O'Leary

As an artist who works in the textile arts with formal training in fine arts, my portfolio spans forty years. I have taught and exhibited extensively throughout Australia and overseas, and have won various awards and have two published art books.

I am inspired by the traditional Korean technique of Bojagi. In bojagi the seams and joins of the fabric pieces are celebrated not hidden. This series is called Shadow because it symbolises the releasing of ephemeral memories and celebrates the slow growth and strength of nature.
